Emile Durkheim is the most iconic French sociologist as his keen interest in the study of society and religion so he develop the '' concept of totemism '' in his book '' Elementary forms of the religious life '' in 1912 which analyze religion as a social phenomena .
Few points to understand concept of totemism
(1) totemic societies studies the concept in central Australia in ( Arunta tribes )
(2) In the feeling of happiness and the feeling of joy is also know as ' state of exaltation ' or ' Collective efferescence '. Meaning its a state of happiness where a group of persons can feel so much positivity and lot of joy connected with a any of the scared thing like plant , tree , river etc.
(3) Durkheim borrowed the idea of crowed behavior is developed by GUSTANE LEBON / GABRIEL TARDE .
(4) How the process of migration is been derived in a simple manner firstly [ Temporary gathering occur] [ interaction escalated ] [ Crowd stimulation high tend emotion ] [ sense of common sentimental that are extreme ] [ Powers are attributed to MANA ] [ MANA is symbolized as totem]
[ Totem promotes sense of unity and solidarity among clan members ] .

# DURKHEIM MODEL OF RELIGION EVOLUTON .
Durkheim - defined religion as a unified system of beliefs and practice related to sacred things that is to say things set apart and for bidden , belief and practice , which unite them into a single moral communities / for those who d where to them .
# ACCORDING TO DURKHEIM , RELIGION IS A DIVISION .
(A)SACRED (B) PROFANE
(A) The sacred refers to the things human beliefs set for example Religion , beliefs , Rites etc.
(B) Profane is just the opposite of scared , which is not scared that is called profane .
profane refers to the realm of everyday utilitarian activates.
(7) Almost anything can be scared a god , a rock , the moon , the earth , a tree , an animal or a bird etc.
(8) These are sacred only because some community has marked them sacred .
(9) According to Durkheim , no object is sacred because of its inherit group or utilitarian but rather it is sacred that the society used to give special respect and give them special space in order of thinks .
(10) It is clear from this that there is no such quality or inherit quality in any object which make it sacred or holy rather the societies puts any objects in the category of scared .
MANDANE - Nor profane / Nor sacred .
